Universal Healing

A new acquaintance that I met will be going for his Reiki class today. Life has such wonderful twists to it. This new acquaintance of mine (Aaron) is the nephew of my dear feng shui classmate. She actually arranged for me to meet him up as she wanted him to convince and sell me some magnetic bracelets. I started out rather skeptical as I have been wearing such magnetic bracelets since the late 90s. Being a golfer back then, I tried everything and anything to play a better game of golf. Short of getting a new golf swing, you name it, I bought it but nothing helps. Maybe that is why I have almost given it up and gone into religion haha.

Anyway, Aaron is a very nice young man. No pressure and no coming on like a salivating wolf in man’s skin trying to shove the bracelets down my throat. In fact he was damn cool about it. Did not even take out his little bag of samples, not even after his aunt, my neurotic classmate as almost beside herself trying to get him to take the samples out. Maybe that was his tactic coz I was starting to get both curious and impatient to see his goods. Finally he took them out after I asked for them. They were pretty little specimens, much nicer than the ones that I had. Now that Aaron has warmed up a little, he started to explain to me that magnets are not created equal. He went on with the make, the origins, the polarities, yada yada yada. I wanted to feel for myself if his little bracelets were the real Mac Coy. So, I placed my left palm over one of the bracelets and in less than 5 seconds, I started to feel a slight tingling sensation on my palm. As I held it longer, the intensity of the tingling increased until it was quite uncomfortable. It was like a whole bunch of pins pricking my palm. I snatched my hand away and started to shake them to get rid of that sensation. This perked Aaron’s curiosity and prompted to ask me what was going on.

So, I told him that his bracelets are the real Mac Coy coz I could really feel the tremendous amount of energy emitted from that one bracelet. He was impressed haha.. just as I was impressed with his bracelets. The rest of the evening was no longer centered on the bracelets but on the topic of Reiki. He has heard that Reiki is one of the more widely known forms of energy healing which involves direct application of Qi (pronounced Chi). Qi is a term used by Chinese mystics and martial artists for the underlying force of the Universe. One way of administering Reiki is by the “laying of hands” on the person and letting the “life force energy” flow from the Reiki channeler to the person. This energy is not produced by the Reiki channeler but taken from the Universe. http://www.reiki.org/FAQ/WhatIsReiki.html.

Many have also claimed that the healing energy of Reiki works based on the recipients’ willingness to cast off old habits and patterns, to accept change and to accept healing. Hence, Reiki energy can never be forced on a person. That should bring some sense of relieve to some people who have not yet have the understanding towards Reiki and still have that tiny nibbling of doubt that Reiki could be some form of hypnotic trickery to get the “victim” to surrender all their worldly belongings to the Reiki Channeler.

We are not called Reiki Healers as we are not really healers, per se. We are merely the vehicle for those who needs this Universal energy to obtain it via the Channelers. Anyone can be a Channeler once they have been attuned and their charkras have been “opened”. My personal Reiki master is a Buddhist who has left his full time job to pursue this. His objective is to help as many people as he can in this lifetime to receive the benefits of Reiki either to heal themselves and to heal others.

The founder of Reiki is Dr Mikao Usui (15 August 1865 - March 1926) http://www.asunam.com/life_of_mikao_usui.htm. This is his recommended mantra for all Reiki and non-Reiki practitioners.

In the end, I bought a bracelet from Aaron and he signed up for Reiki classes with my Reiki Master... now is that a fair trade or not :)

Wonderful distractions :)

Watching the documentary on the Faces of Death was a little upsetting, if one was watching it for the first time. I was watching it for the second time, so it was not really that bad. We were watching it in the company of 2 little precious fur balls named Yogi and Zamkar. Yogi (Rinpoche’s Schnauzer) and Zamkar (Paul’s white baby Schnauzer) were very good little doggies coz before we started on the documentary, they were playing chase at the lounge area. They were playing with this squeaky toy that was loud and a pain to the ears. But when the documentary started, they both sat down… of coz there was plenty of willing hands giving tickles, cuddles, tummy rubs. I was giving them reiki healing as well. These are some shots of how contented and happy they both are.

Paul was sharing that some of these pedigrees could have been high practitioners in their previous life but because they have broken their vows, they were reborn as dogs but well taken care of dogs. That is why most of them are intelligent and very teachable. My monsters at home were actually monsters in their previous lives. I know coz the neighbours have been wanting to put out rewards on their heads as they bark and bark for no apparent reasons in the middle of the nite or mornings. I hope it is not because they are seeing sentient beings from the other dimension ... brrrr..

I miss them both already!!!!

Death

Our Book Club Cell Group “Norgyuma” met up last night to review the latest assignment set by Rinpoche. This round, we were reviewing the documentary “Faces of Death” (1978). I have gotten this synopsis from the internet and it should put the entire deal into its proper perspective.

“A 'mockumentary' hosted by Dr. Francis B. Gross, a coroner. He is trying to show you the different 'faces' of people while dying. There are faked scenes of people getting killed intermixed with footage of real accidents. There are executions by decapitation (in an Arab country) and the electric chair. One scene shows a group of tourists in Egypt smashing a monkey's head while still alive and eating its brains. There are shots of animals eating people and satanic orgies using dead bodies. There is a segment that deals with an alligator that accidentally entered 'residential' waters. The local warden goes in his boat to get the crocodile back into the sea when he accidentally falls over and becomes gator bait. The film ends with news clippings of people jumping off buildings and major accidents". Written by Sujit R. Varma

So, there you go. It was not exactly an after dinner mint that we had yesterday. We watched it together as a group and somehow, having seen it one round by myself, it was not so revolting when I watched it again with others. I must say it was rather amusing to see others cringe and looking nauseated when I was exactly like that, if not worse when I watched it by myself the other night. Maybe it was the mind already knowing what to expect or maybe this was the real me…. one who is able to revel in the gross (the evil me). We discussed the significance of watching the documentary and some of us hope that we will have more awareness toward death now, to realize the certainty of death for all of us, with only the time of death to be decided. For some of us, it could be even untimely, when we walk out of a building and some flower pot falls on our heads. Watching how the animals were slaughtered of coz brought tremendous amount of compassion out of each of us but is that enough? Yeah, sure, if we all started turning into vegetarians, that should serve to at least reduce the number of killings of innocent animals, but what of man killing himself due to his curiosity and thirst in pushing himself to the limit without thoughts of death for himself and the worst kind would be when man raged war against his fellow man.

We ended our meeting half an hour before midnight. I am not sure if any of us were really that disturbed by what we saw as we all knew that death is a very natural phenomenon, which follows all births. I know that most of us will now understand why Rinpoche wanted us to meditate on death so that we can understand what we have to do with life. To make the most out of this precious life of ours so that when death occurs, death can be embraced without fear or regret. OM………

How to Blog and make money!

I had lunch today with my friend, babeinthecitykl and we talked about nothing in particular and nothing included the current high profile Altantuya murder trial, our Pak Lah making a boo boo by not wearing the right colored tie to work, Indie movies (independent movies.. not Indian as in bollywood movies lah) and much more, including the movie I watched last nite. You’d be surprise as to the wide range of topics we covered within a very short lunch time. I finally touched on a matter which was still sitting like a bit of sand inside my pants.

I wanted to get her opinion on this matter coz yesterday, again during lunch time (looks like I only get to talk or interact with people during lunch coz otherwise I’d be so busy doing my work – hope my boss is reading this), myrandomthoughts told me that a common friend of ours read my blog and offered a piece of advice. He said “if she is going to ramble on in her blog, she is not going to make any money”. Geez, now that was kinda presumptuous I thought. Not all bloggers blog to “make money”. I must admit, some do, whilst there are also some who do it to get heard or just to share their 2 cents worth with whoever who cares to read their blogs or some are like me, who are sometimes just dead bored and since I don’t have that many people to talk to, I talk to myself by blogging (sicko hor heehee). He further added that to make money, one has to blog about food. Ahhhh that is what I needed to confirm with babe. I asked “So, babe, you must be really rolling in it”.

She said, “You kidding ah? Food bloggers are the ones who make the least money lah. You want to make the dough, write on the techno stuff, the current affair stuff.. not on what you cooked yesterday or what you ate last weekend. Sheech!”. Thank God for that coz I can’t cook for nuts and I hardly go anywhere fancy to eat (not that I am cheap or anything like that, but I’ve got cheap friends who can only eat cheap food.. and also scarcely do we meet… hey hey… guys, that’s just a joke ok.. you’re not cheap, just not expensive :p).

Wow, that took the sand out of my pants, . And furthermore, I have got this nugget of gold from babe. She says that there are many ways to make money by blogging but one way is simply by putting in your blog key buzz words that will really help. Ahhh, no wonderlah. I see so many of my blogger friends blogging about the iPhone. Ok lah.. here goes…iPhone, iPhone, iPhone… the iPhone mantra...the money is going to roll in now…buahahahahah!!!!

At the movies ;)

Monday nites have always been set aside for prayers (Setrap Puja) at our dharma centre at Sunwaymas Commercial Centre. But yesterday, there was what we call “Yee Cheung” - 2nd Session. What this meant was that after the first activity (the prayers), we had another activity following that.

Our very kind Guru gave us a treat to the movies. Wan organized it all. She rounded 10 of us plus herself ( the 10 were Joy, Justin, Maggie, KB, Rajendra, Mitra, James, Tamara (she is Rinpoche’s friend from Australia, and she is now our friend too), Chris and mua) skillfully from Kechara House to the GSC cinema.

When we were at the lobby, Wan said “What would you like to have, hotdogs, popcorn, coke or juice or all of the above” It is Rinpoche’s treat”. Wow..Thank you Guru.

We watched the movie “Alone” and I found this interesting website this morning http://www.faddthemovie.com/eng/flash/mainAlone.html. This is a horror movie which looked into the life of a surviving twin coming home to find her dead twin waiting for her so that they will never be parted. We all enjoyed to movie very much as there was an unusual twist to the story at the end. However, some of us had rather tired hands after the show. Why, coz we had it up most of the time covering our eyes and mouth. Ha Ha.. actually it is not really that scary, depending on who you are seated next to in the movie. My neightbour was not covering her mouth, so her little screams were more horrifying than what the show had to offer as scare tactics. Thanks Maggie for stopping my heart a few times during the movie.

I live for Weekends

Great Karaoke Nite ~~~~~

It has been a fantastic weekend of non-stop action from the word GO. My weekend started on Thursday last week. There was a Karaoke fund raising event which was organized for the renovation of our dharma centre. The event was held at the STAR KTV in Bangsar Shopping Centre. Members, friends and families came together and let their hair down. A nite to go wild (not that the group is not already wild enough on regular days). Got shots of major stars like Eric Choong (the fashion designer) and James Long (singer, performer by profession) and many more for posterity and for blackmail buahahaha… evil aren’t I.

Reunion ~~~~~

Had a reunion with friends on Friday nite at Chilies, again at Bangsar Shopping Centre. That is getting to be a regular haunt for me these days as the last couple of weeks I was there to watch some show at The Actors Studio, or to meet friends there. Have not seen a particular girlfriend for donkey years at this reunion. When I saw her, she looked exactly the same. Not a day older since I last saw her 10 years ago. She must have found the fountain of youth and she has been keeping it all to her self. Hmmm she is as evil as I am. Yeah, this is her with ther evil smile :)

Lui Char Farn ~~~~~

Do you know what is “lui char farn”? I had it 2 times already, in my entire life. A dharma sister invited me to her birthday Dana Lunch (From Wikipedia - Dana is a Sanskrit and Pali word meaning generosity or giving. In Buddhism, it also refers to the practice of cultivating generosity) on Saturday. Actually she asked me that if I could to be at her house at 9am to help out. Their Venerables (monks) will be arriving at noon for lunch. Being evil and lazy, I arrived at 11:00am. Hee hee, most of the dharma sisters have done most of the work. That left only the pamelo fruits for me to peel. No problem, that I can handle.

Lui Char Farn is a meal which takes tremendous amount of work, Preparation could take days. It is a meal where most of the ingredients are vegetables. There must have been at least 10 types of vegetables ranging from string beans, long beans, all sorts of green leaved veggies. All these are cut, sliced and diced and lightly fried without oil in a wok so as to get rid of the “green veggie smell”. Dried shrimps are also fried as garnishings. The trickiest bit is the gravy. Sesame seeds and peanuts are tossed over a hot pan to make them fragrant. These are put in a blender. Added to that are 3 types of green veggies and dried tea leaves (my friend used high quality Tik Guan Yin). Hot water is added to this lot and the gravy is formed. Cooked rice is lightly fried to make it fragrant.

To eat all this, you put only a little rice at the bottom of your bowl, add a whole bunch of veggies over the rice, add peanut, dried shrimp if preferred and pour the gravy over the lot. Mix well and scoop into mouth… I was in gluttony heaven….I heard that if you were to eat this at the shops, it might coz you more than RM10 a bowl. For all that effort, I’d say it is worth it.

Now I cannot wait for her next birthday.

Dzambala Mystical Treasures ~~~~~

Sunday was spent at the dharma outlet in 1 Utama, Dzambala Mystical Treasures. Was there from 10am until 7pm but only left the shopping centre at 10pm. Got some friends to meet up for dinner but insisted that we assembled ourselves at the outlet (so that I can persuade them to invite some precious item from the outlet – told you that I am evil and proud to admit it). The 3 friends met me up at 6pm and after a tour around the shop, the dearest and bestest friend in the whole whole (for that evening) was Joe.

He bought a singing bowl and a rather large and pretty one. Costs only RM428. Wonderful. Asked him later a to why he bought the bowl. Did he feel coerced into buying it because of our cajoling? He said “Nah.. I am going to put it in my Melbourne office and look all Asian and Exotic”. Good for you dear Joe.

Well, got home, cleaned up some and started to clear my altar as there is a new addition to my house… a new housemate. Her name is Vajrayogini. Tara, Dzambala, Chenrizig,Tsongkapa, Setrap and the rest of them were so happy to receive her. And that my dears, will be another post.

Life is a Circle

Do you know that life is a circle? I know you do, and mine is a much tinier circle. Payday, Pay bills and then wait for Payday again. Today is supposed to be Payday but it does not happen until the end of the day. In the last couple of months, due to some issues with the bank, pay only got in on the 2nd or 3rd of the following month.

Darn, I am so totally broke. Got up this morning, checked the wallet. Enough to get me through the day coz I’ve got only about 10 buckaroos left. I hope some kind friend is reading this and will offer to treat me to lunch and or dinner hee hee. Actually, what can one eat for 10 bucks, actually 8 left, coz I ate fried beehoon for 2 bucks this morning.

Actually, I am glad we live in Malaysia coz with just 8 bucks, I am sure I can survive through the day. Drinks are free, if I drink all my beverages in the office and they do have a large good variety to choose from too as the company is rather generous in stocking up the pantry. I could go over to the nearby food court and order a curry noodles or noodles of any sort as this will only cost 3 bucks and a half or 4.

That leaves me with 4 bucks left. Hey, no worries as there is this great malay stall near my place which sells a large packet of rice with curry, vegetables and beef for 3 bucks fifty. Wow, I still have money left. Now isn’t Malaysia great.

We can actually live on less than 10 dollars a day if we wanted to. But that means no McDs, KFCs or A&Ws and definitely no Pizza Huts. Look at the positive side of things, you get to keep away from the junk food, get into a more healthy eating style and save money. What more can one ask for?
